L
a Gloria Cubana is not one of the well-known Cuban brands. It literally translates as "The Glory of Cuba" and was founded in 1885 by Sociedad Cabanos Y Castro. The cigars found favour with the locals, who enjoyed their medium-bodied strength and flavour. They became sought after by more knowledgeable aficionados who had heard of this illusive brand.

Production was transferred to the Partagas factory in 1954 when the brand was purchased by the Cifuentes family (who also bought Bolivar). Today, production is limited to Regional Editions and Casa exclusives, which restricts availability and enhances the brand's reputation.

The La Gloria Cubana Turquinos is named after the highest mountain (Pico Turquino) in the Sierra Maestra range in the southeast of Cuba.

It is a Gordito (5 1/2" x 50) cigar made from tobacco grown in the Vuelta Abajo region of Cuba. The taste is described as floral and fruity and is mild to medium-bodied. It is a great cigar for both novices wishing to expand their experience and those keen to add to their library of vitola and brands they have enjoyed.
